Solar and Roofing
As important as our roofs are, they are the ideal space that can be repurposed as a solar energy producing, all weather platform. Solar panels can be installed on just about any home or business. If a dated roof is holding you back, needed repairs or a new roof can be replaced as part the solar array system installation. Under current Treasury Rules and the IRS Code, it expilcitly states the cost of replacing a roof is not eligibe for the solar ITC unless it is necessary to support the installation of the solar panels. The cost of replacing rafters, insulation buildup, decking and roofing in areas that do not receive solar are ineligible.
Carbon Credits, Capture and Sequestration
The environment is precious, so it is important we do everything to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible. Most people don't realize that commercial buildings are responsible for more than 35% of all US energy consumption, and more than 836 million tons of CO2 annually.
Our partner, Carbon Credit Reserve, can create a path to carbon neutrality for large corporations and small businesses alike. This is especially true for companies that expend large amounts of energy in high rise office buildings, campuses or just can't avoid it due to the nature of products they manufacture. Carbon Credit Reserve can provide a carbon neutral strategy today for organizations through the purchase of carbon credits. Businesses can virtually offset their annual carbon footprint now, instead of making unsubstantiated forecasts to be carbon neutral decades from now.
Energy Efficient Improvements for Schools and Businesses
USDA's OneRD Loan program is available to provide schools, universities, hospitals and non-profits with the funds for the brick and mortor improvments, which may include new roofs, renovations of existing facilities and/or construction of new structures for dormatories, libraries; or facilities for new workforce programs. The State Energy Conservation Office's (SECO) LoneSTAR program provides funding for energy efficiencey improvements, and the applicants repay the loan from the "energy cost savings" realized by the projects. The end result is a negitive out-of-pocket expense that the school or non-profit will realize while reducing their annual operating costs.
Westco is passionate about helping our clients get the maximum value out of every dollar spent on energy based improvements, and we can assist borrowers all the way through the process from assessment, design, qualification for financing, and project completion with low-interest loans to pay for these efforts, which may include:
- Rooftop, Carport and Ground mounted Solar Arrays
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- AC coupled Standby Power Generators
- Our Solar Friendly Heat Pump systems that use 80% less power
- Affordable Bi-Directional EV Charging Stations
- Uninterrupted Power Supply Systems for communications, server rooms and IT departments.
Under another USDA program, any agricultural producer and for-profit businesses in Rural areas can get up to $1MM in grants and $800K in Federally backed loans through the USDA-REAP program for installing clean energy resources. This program can also provide up to $800,000 in grant and loan funding for Energy Efficient Improvements.
BESS
Battery energy storage systems are vailable in residential or small business sizes, large commercial and industrial/utilty sized systems. These systems can be installed without solar as emergency backup batteries only, or as part of greater energy management plan leveraging TOU.
